Auburn Gresham – Two people are dead and two others are in critical condition after a mass shooting near a gas station in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood overnight, according to Chicago police.
Police say four people were standing outside in the 7600 block of South Halsted Street after midnight when a group of four individuals approached and opened fire, striking all four victims.
A 53-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Their identities have not yet been released by officials.
A 35-year-old woman was shot in the leg and was also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition. A 33-year-old man was transported to the same hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his body.
Video from the scene showed more than 50 evidence markers laid out by investigators, underscoring the scale of the gunfire. CTA bus service along Halsted is currently being rerouted as police continue processing the scene.
No arrests have been announced. Area Two detectives are leading the investigation.
