Triple Shooting Near 3rd & Cottage Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

Chicago Police are investigating a triple shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead and two others wounded late last night near 3rd and Cottage, close to Uncle John’s BBQ.

According to CPD, officers responded to calls of shots fired and multiple people shot in the area around 10:44 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a 20-year-old male suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other victims were also located nearby. A 19-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound to the leg and was listed in good condition. A second 20-year-old male was also struck in the leg and is likewise listed in good condition.

Police say the three victims were walking along the sidewalk when a black sedan pulled up beside them. Someone inside the vehicle opened fire before the car sped off, heading north on Cottage.

A person of interest has been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the shooting. Area Two detectives are leading the investigation, and no further details have been released regarding a motive or the relationship, if any, between the shooter and the victims.
